Sandals - Monoprix |
As summer is coming - little GoT reference right there - and the weather getting warmer and sunnier, I needed something to go along with my destroyed but cherished Vans. And so today, i've made a cheeky and impulsive purchase, resulting in a total bargain. But first, let me tell you the story of the hunt for these futuristic pumps that are now mine (you can't imagine how proud and happy i am right now. The power of consumerism is amazing !)
Thus, something like a month ago, while it was still Easter break, I had taken my best friend to a little shopping trip (ending up, as always, by buying essentials like a new notebook, a box of cookies and a bottle of limonade). And so, when we came by the shop, I immediately saw these, tried them on ... and finished by putting them back on the shelf because "I don't need sandals right now, it is too cold and summer is not here yet, I have still plenty of time".
YEH RIGHT. But when I came back two weeks ago with my mom this time, they had gone and I was really disappointed. I let it go but, at the back of my mind, everything I wanted were these and all I'd look for where similar models.
And finally today, in a sudden stroke of ... dunno what, I stumbled upon them on Monoprix's web side. I didn't count up to 1 or 2, I get my credit card out and ... they didn't delivered to my town's shop (for free). And, as I didn't wanted to pay postage, I decided to call the shop of my town if who knows they could do something for me. And ... IT TURNED OUT THAT THEY HAD THEM, EVEN IN MY SIZE. (Apparatlenty, not stored at the place I had look at, explaining why I had missed them. And that's it. I asked to had them put aside, put the phone down and thirty minutes later, I was at the cash register and then walked away, my precious in my bag.
A hell of hunt for a cheap pair of sandals but, hey, that's love right there ! At the beginning, they cost 27,90€ but, with a lovely -30% discouting, I only paid 19,53€ ! I know that they probably won't last for all summer but, for the price, that's not what I ask !
If I have non-french reader, Monoprix is a French retail chain (supermarkets) and, according to the holy Wikipedia, "the closest comparison to Monoprix for American and British customers might be the old-style Woolco /Woolworths stores in both countries, which combined Woolworth's non-food range with a supermarket offering, or the Fred Meyer chain in the United States' Pacific Northwest." I don't know if it triggers anything for you. I could describe it as a chain of "city supermarkets" that sell rather good quality-clothing for a supermarket ... Dunno if you know what I'm trying to explain but I've tried my best.
The moral of the story is, appart from the fact that I am very please to were these holographic-futuristic sandals, that sometimes, waiting for something dearly desired is rewarded. A bit of philosophy, you're welcome. On that note, I leave you and I'm coming back to my revisions (exams, exams, stay away, you're too close)
See ya later ! XxX
Alice.
